Thank You! More Please!

I don’t believe in coincidence.

To me, those moments of synchronicity, happenstance, miracle, chance, and luck are gifts from All-That-Is (God, the Universe, Source Energy, Higher Coach—whatever works for you) that we open the vibrational-door wide enough to receive.

One of those moments fell into my lap as I sat down to write today’s blog and was wondering what I would focus on in a short amount of time as we have family coming in today and there is lots on my to-do list.

Having just finished my workout and eaten my breakfast, I made my way into my office with my steaming cup of lemon-green tea and fired up my computer. As always, I checked my emails first, and there was one from Abraham-Hicks, one of my favorite spiritual teachers, offering a free preview of the first 10 minutes of a workshop, so I clicked on the link.

Not having read the fine print, what I didn’t realize was that the offer was to see the first minutes of a live workshop and once those 10 minutes were over the channel would be taken down. I just “happened” to click on the link just as Abraham welcomed the workshop participants—live and in real time. My timing could not have been more perfect!

And the words that I heard in those 10 minutes were a direct answer to a question I’d been rolling around my mind for the past couple of days.

What a beautiful gift that I appreciate to my core!

Those types of gifts are coming to us frequently, but often we are so distracted, overwhelmed, and disconnected that we don’t recognize them for what they are and we literally do not receive them. They can range from the simple to the profound.

For instance, just a few days ago, my husband and I were driving along and we saw a groundhog foraging on the side of the road. It was so fun to see this cute creature and I exclaimed out loud, “I love groundhogs!” The next day we were eating dinner and a groundhog came through the fence into our backyard and stood on a wall about four-feet from our window. He just stood motionless right in front of us for a good five minutes.

It was as if the Universe was giving me the gift of an uninterrupted view of this adorable creature so that I could have more of something that I love.

And just yesterday, a friend who is a single-mother who was having significant financial problems won over $100,000 in the state lottery. While this was certainly a profound gift for her, it was also a gift for me on so many levels, but primarily it was a blatant reminder not to tie God’s hands in the myriad of ways prayers can be answered. It’s our job to ask for what we want and let go of “how” the answer or solution may come.

One of the things that I was opened to this week was when we become aware of those gifts from the Universe to not only fill our hearts with appreciation, but to joyfully ask how this moment can get even better. And then to watch as more examples of joy, abundance, and love fill our lives.

There is no end to the gifts that Source Energy wants to bring us. The better life gets, the better it can get.

You can bet that after my fabulous experience this morning, I’m not only saying, “Thank You!” but I’m asking, “What other wondrous things can I experience today?”

What can you do to reframe how you see those moments of synchronicity, coincidence, happenstance, miracle, chance, and luck and begin to see them as gifts from All-That-Is? How does that change how you receive those experiences? And with gratitude and appreciation in your heart, what can you do to remember to joyfully ask how the experience could get even better, and watch for the miracles to unfold?

Do You Need That to Be Healthful?

nour•ish \ˈnər-ish, ˈnə-rish\ verb

nour•ish•es; nour•ished; nour•ish•ing

[+ obj] 1 : to provide (someone or something) with food and other things that are needed to live, be healthy, etc.

▪ Plants are nourished [=fed] by rain and soil. ▪ Vitamins are added to the shampoo to nourish the hair. ▪ a well-nourished baby

2 : to cause (something) to develop or grow stronger

▪ a friendship nourished by trust ▪ Her parents nourished [=supported] her musical talent.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary

How well-nourished are you? I’m not just asking about your diet, but am including your mind, emotions, and soul.

For many, nourishment may not be something they think about at all. For some, nutrition is what comes to mind. There are few of us who can claim to be well-nourished in all areas of our lives.

But if you think about the difference nourishing food can make to your body, just imagine what would happen if you also consciously nourished your mind with information, ideas, and even entertainment that enhanced your knowledge, awareness, and clarity?

Imagine nourishing relationships that are easy, loving, satisfying, and fun? Imagine nourishing spiritual practices that lead to richer, fuller, and more fulfilling life experiences? Imagine nourishing activities (such as work!) that are fun, interesting, and exciting?

What did you do yesterday? How much of that nourished you—body, mind, and spirit? How much of it drained or depleted you?

What are you doing today? How much of what you have on your to-do list is nourishing? What do your choices mean for the overall quality of your life? What choices would you need to make to be truly well-nourished?

Wellness Tip of the Day

Aside

Wellness Tip of the Day: Adequate rest is important to having enough physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energy. Adequate can change by day and person.

Feel the Relief

Every feeling you have is either a derivative of love or fear. Like opposite ends of a magnet, the feelings that you have are moving you closer to one pole or the other. Where you spend most of your time is reflected in how you experience life.

Is what you are feeling most of the time closer to joyful, appreciative, content, hopeful or frustrated, angry, overwhelmed, depressed? As a result, do you see the world as a happy or scary place?

While many people think their feelings are out of their control, this isn’t actually the case. What you are feeling is tied directly to what you are thinking.

You may believe that what you are thinking about a situation is etched in stone. The situation is the situation after all. It’s either good or bad, right? How could you possibly think something different about it?

We begin to take control of our thoughts and emotions when we recognize that what we think and feel is a choice.

For instance, I can focus on the rain that is falling right now, the thunder that has my dog anxious, and the gloomy sky, or I can focus on the mild temperatures we are having in the middle of January, how our drought-lowered water table is being refilled, how animals in the wild have plenty of water to drink, and come spring, the wild flowers that will be abundant.

And if a situation is truly so bad that you can’t shift your thoughts about it, then as often as possible, figure out how you can take your mind off that topic. You will not be giving it freedom to get worse if you give your mind a rest to think about something that you do feel good about.

Letting go of your grip on worry and stress—even for a minute here and there throughout your day—can actually help you see solutions that you otherwise would have missed.

This is where it’s helpful to tap into your spiritual beliefs. You can feel a sense of relief when you put your mental burden in the hands of a power bigger than yourself, that understands the story behind you and to come, that has such a broad perspective that the solution is clear, and that has the capacity to create the Universe and that will use all of its resources working on your behalf.

However you can get there, a feeling of relief is all you need to strive for. Trying to jump from depression to joy will just bring you crashing painfully to the ground. The small step of a feeling of relief is all that you need to move you closer to the love-side of the magnet.

The more you step your thoughts towards love, the more you love your life.

What can you do today to alter your thoughts to create a feeling of relief? Do that, and repeat.

Together we can do it!

You Have Response-Ability

I’ve been struggling with writing an article all week. The more time I spend on that article, the further I fall behind on meeting my other deadlines, which results in a feeling of stress that zaps my energy and makes writing the article even harder.

How often do you get caught in this same kind of negative catabolic-energy spiral? Maybe what you want to accomplish is working out, but you’re too tired or busy and you miss it, and then you start beating yourself up, which makes getting in your next workout even harder. You can insert any task that you’re struggling with into this type of catabolic-energy loop.

It’s time to stop this crazy train!

What I know is that I have the response-ability for bringing my purpose, commitment, and spiritual connection into everything I do. So yesterday, I put aside the article for a bit and thought about how I want my sense of purpose to support me in this task. I also wrote out a list of all the reasons I love writing for a living.

Taking the time to shift my perspective helped generate a more positive anabolic outlook that allowed me to tap into and be supported by my spiritual beliefs and connection. Taking the time to do that helped bring me some clarity and focus, so that I was finally able to make some significant progress on the article, which I will finish this morning.

The task I was faced with didn’t change. What changed was how I felt about doing it.

It doesn’t matter if the task you’re facing is a mountain of laundry, a million-dollar deal, or being the best parent you can be to a rambunctious kid. Think about how you can bring your purpose, commitment, and spiritual connection into everything you do.

When you stop expecting the task or situation to change or go away, and instead use your response-ability to shift your energy, focus, and feelings, you begin showing up as the person you want to be.

Together we can do it!
