You Only Need One Thing to Make 2013 Your Year!

Love YourselfHappy New Year!

You may be spending this day reflecting on 2012, and setting intentions and making resolutions for 2013.

Would you consider adding something to your list?

How about putting “Love Yourself” at the very top?

This is the primary intention I’m setting for myself in 2013.

I thought I had “loving myself” down. But as I’ve challenged myself to step up in a big way to better serve you, some of those old, negative voices have resurfaced. My business is expanding rapidly, and I’m learning how to up-level my energy to meet the new flow of clients and income.

And this has been a huge gift.

Because it is a vivid reminder of the pain I used to feel on a daily basis as I struggled with my weight. Feeling this old self-doubt and self-criticism has absolutely reinforced my focus and commitment to not only step up my own self-love—but to help you Love Your Way Slim.

No woman deserves to feel this self-inflicted pain.

Fortunately I have the tools, resources, and support to transform my inner critic so that it becomes a powerfully supportive—and loving—ally.

There are a lot of misconceptions about self-love. Self-love is not about conceit or thinking you are “higher and mightier” than anyone else.

In fact, when you are coming from a true place of self-love, it spills over onto everyone—and everything—else.

And a huge bonus! Loving yourself generates positive physical processes that are not only good for your health, but make it easier to release weight.

Loving yourself actually inspires loving action—towards yourself and others.

When you recognize and acknowledge your own intrinsic value, you automatically see it in others. When you feel an abundance of love there is no need to limit the love you give in any way.

So my wish for you in 2013 is that you make loving yourself your number one priority.

With much love, appreciation, and wishes for 2013 to be your year,

Give Yourself Spiritual Liposuction!

Mirror imageCan you look at yourself in the mirror and say, “I love you” and really mean it?

If you are like most women, this feels like a big fat lie.

I know.

It wasn’t too many years ago that I literally could not look myself in the eye and say anything positive. All I could see were my flaws. When I tried saying positive affirmations about myself or my body they would literally stick in my throat because they were such lies.

Wow I’ve come a long way.

Today I love my body—and myself!—and I love my life more than I thought possible.

Now I know that to truly open up my heart to others, I had to learn to love myself first.

Far from being the selfish act I thought it was, self-love gives you the energy and empowerment to be more self-less.

And it is the key for getting the body that you want. Changing your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs is like spiritual liposuction.

As the Law of Attraction says, “As within, so without.”

It was only when I did the inner work of changing my thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about myself, what I was capable of, and what I deserved, that I found the solutions for me to not only lose the weight, but to easily keep it off now for several years.

While a powerful exercise is to look in the mirror and tell yourself, “I love you,” many women can’t do it long enough to see significant changes because it feels like such a fib.

So start small.

Stand in front of the mirror for 3 minutes and focus on at least three things you can appreciate about yourself.

Maybe you can focus on how much you appreciate:

  • Your eyes and being able to see.
  • Your smile that transforms your face.
  • Your legs that carry you through your day.

Begin practicing appreciating these parts of you until you can look in the mirror and say:

  • I love my eyes.
  • I love my smile.
  • I love my legs.

And then add three new things about yourself to appreciate, and work up to loving them. Keep going until you can honestly look at yourself in the mirror and say, “I love you.”

One of the things that shifted me from self-loathing to self-love is that I realized that it was not only OK to love myself, but was who I was meant to be. It was when I finally “got” that Source (God, the Universe, Higher Self—whatever works for you) not only loves me, but absolutely adores me and sees my body as perfect.

Who am I to contradict All-That-Is?

If I am loved, that must mean that I am loveable and worthy of self-love. It was time for me to appreciate who I am, and the unique gifts and perspective that I bring to this growing and expanding Universe.

Just as I am loved and adored by All-That-Is, you are loved and adored—exactly as you are. You are so worthy. You are beautiful. You add irreplaceable value to this world.

What are those things about yourself that you can agree with Source are worth appreciating? What can you do today to acknowledge and begin expressing love for those things about yourself? Look for those things. Acknowledge those things. Celebrate those things.

And then watch how you begin to see–and treat–yourself differently. Watch for how your body begins to change. Watch for the body you want.

Together we can do it!

Let Go of the BS Weighing You Down

It should be easy.

It should come naturally.

But loving yourself can be darn hard.

This is because you’re dealing with your own BS—Belief System. And you have to let go of the BS to love your way slim.

Here’s a quick and easy test to see if your BS is getting in the way of achieving your wellness goals.

Can you look at yourself in the mirror and say, “I love you” and really mean it?

If that feels like anything less than complete and total Truth, you have some work to do to let go of the BS that is literally weighing you down.

Often, women I work with struggle to look themselves in the eye and say anything positive. All they can see is their flaws. When they try to say positive affirmations about themselves or their bodies it feels like a big fat lie.

You must learn to love yourself first in order to truly open up your heart to others and strive to be the best version of you. Far from being the selfish act women often think this is, self-love gives you the energy and empowerment to be more self-less.

This is true because All-That-Is (God, the Universe, Source Energy, Higher Coach—whatever works for you) loves you, adores you, and sees your body as perfect.

And just as you are loved and adored by All-That-Is, so is everyone else. Everyone adds irreplaceable value to this world. The more you love yourself—just as you are—the more you are able to love and accept others.

It is not only OK to love yourself, but it is Who you are meant to be.

  • It is time for you to appreciate Who you are, and the unique gifts and perspective that you bring to this growing and expanding Universe.
  • It is time to look in the mirror and revel in the person and body you have helped co-create.
  • It is time to open your heart so that you can more fully love and appreciate yourself—and others.

A simple way to begin loving yourself is to start a daily practice of standing in front of a mirror and focusing on three things that you love.

What are those things about yourself that you can agree with Source are worth appreciating? Today, look for those things. Acknowledge those things. Celebrate those things.

Because you are worthy of your own self-love.

Together we can do it!

Love Yourself, Love Your Body

Are you loving you—no matter what?

Are you living as the person you intend to be?

Do your actions line up with your desires for the body you want to create?

Often the answer is “No.”

For instance, you may want with all your heart to be fit and lean, but you consistently overeat or blow off exercise.

I’m just as guilty of this as anyone else. For the past two weeks, I’ve overeaten or made less than stellar choices. While I am happy to say that the over-indulgences weren’t nearly what they would have been in the past, I still made the conscious choices to eat and drink more than is absolutely best for me.

And I’ve been judging myself.

So for the past couple of days, I’ve been focused on tapping into my self-love—which has truly been the key to my losing 34 pounds and keeping it off for more than 2 years.

Here are three ways to begin loving you.

  • Practice appreciation. You may have to begin with external things—like your pets or children. But when you get a solid feeling of appreciation going, turn that light on yourself. Appreciate who you are, what you are doing to move towards your wellness goals, and how hard your body is working on your behalf.
  • Love your body in pieces. If you typically look in the mirror and are critical, you may have to start off small and work your way up. For instance, sit quietly and send love to your toes. Then let that feeling of love spread to the balls of your feet, to your arches, and into your heels. Slowly work your way up your body loving every specific part as you go.
  • Focus on your heart. Sit quietly and think about your heart. Feel it opening up and generating a warm, green light. Imagine that loving light beginning to spread all around you. It can actually be helpful to put your hand on your heart as you do this.

While this may seem like woo-woo meditations, what you are really doing is tapping into positive anabolic energy that is enabling your body to regenerate and rebuild down to the cellular level.

As Mike Dooley said in today’s Notes from the Universe:

Turning up the love turns on everything else. Everything, as in whatever your heart desires, including the processes that will bring it to you.

Notice what happens when you begin practicing self-love. How does loving yourself help you create the body–and life–you want?
